Joy Nugent – Founder of Soul Talk and local author of 3 books

  Lower Hall at 12:15pm

Joy Nugent has spent three decades at the bedside of people who were dying. She was the Managing Director of Private Palliative Care Services Pty Ltd which traded as NurseLink. She pioneered a private nurse practice as well as being the co-founder of the Mary Potter Foundation, Founder of Friends of Hospice and NurseLink Foundation. She is proud to be a Patron of the Sandakan Hospice in East Malaysia. She left a comfortable life as the wife of a successful orthodontist to follow a calling and vocation. My quote is: “If we get death right, we get life right”

In her first insightful  book: As Good As Goodbyes Get – a Window into Death and Dying Joy Nugent share stories of how others have best prepared for the final journey.

In her second book My Way – One Nurses Passion for End of Life the author shares not only her personal memoir but also her model for end-of-life nursing. Although she has had to face many challenges and struggles along the way, she acknowledges that her life has been divinely guided.

Parting the Veil – Reflections on Soul is the third book in the trilogy. This book explores a subject that has been disappointingly overlooked by much of medicine and healthcare. It helps readers recognise that death is merely a threshold that frees the soul from the limitations of its outer garment – the personality.

In her talk at the Open Day (12.15 pm lower hall) she will give definitions of soul from the Wisdom Traditions, introduce energy medicine, discus chapters from Parting the Veil – Reflections on Soul such as Spirituality and Religion, Euthanasia and Dying with Confidence
